How Escrow & Payouts Work
1. Payment Held in Escrow
When a buyer pays, funds are securely held in escrow. This protects both buyer and seller.
2. Order Delivered
You ship the product and the buyer confirms delivery (or auto-confirmation after the escrow period).
3. You Get Paid
After the escrow hold period, the sale amount minus commission is transferred to your Mobile Money or bank account.

Is it free to start selling on DuukaAfrica?
Yes! There are NO monthly fees, setup fees, or hidden charges. You only pay a commission when you make a sale. As a Starter tier seller, the commission is 15% per sale. You can upgrade to lower your commission rate.
How does the escrow system work?
When a buyer pays for an order, the funds are held in escrow to protect both parties. The hold period depends on your seller tier: Starter (7 days), Verified (5 days), or Premium (3 days). After the hold period and buyer confirmation, the funds (minus commission) are released to your account.
When and how do I receive payouts?
After the escrow hold period ends and the buyer confirms delivery (or the auto-confirmation period passes), your payout is processed to your registered Mobile Money number or bank account. Higher-tier sellers get paid faster — Premium sellers receive payouts in just 3 days.
How do I upgrade my seller tier?
Upgrading is simple: Starter → Verified requires ID verification and a selfie. Verified → Premium requires business registration documents, tax documents, and a verified physical location. Navigate to Settings > Verification in your seller dashboard to start the upgrade process.
What happens to my commission rate if I downgrade?
If you voluntarily downgrade or fail to maintain your verification status, your tier will be adjusted accordingly and the applicable commission rate for that tier will apply to future sales. Existing orders in progress will not be affected.
Are there any limits on what I can sell?
Starter sellers can list up to 10 products. Verified and Premium sellers can list unlimited products. However, all sellers must follow our Seller Guidelines — counterfeit goods, prohibited items, and misleading listings are not allowed and will result in account suspension.
Do I need to pay for shipping labels or packaging?
No, DuukaAfrica does not charge for shipping labels. However, as a seller, you are responsible for packaging and shipping costs. You can factor these into your product pricing or charge a separate shipping fee at checkout.
